Movie Review 6: Kingsman: The Secret Service

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Kingsman: The Secret Service came out in theaters on February 13, competing with the awaited Fifty Shades of Grey. Starring Colin Firth as Galahad, Mark Strong as Merlin, Samuel Jackson as Valentine and introducing Taron Egerton as "Eggsy", this film took the classic Bond Films and pushed it up a notch.

Each agent of Kingsman has an Arthurian name, and when an agent dies, each remaining chooses a candidate to be the replacement. Galahad chooses Eggsy as his candidate, and which 5 others, Eggsy must face challenges like waking up to a room filling with water to being told that one of the 6 doesn't have a parachute when jumping out of a plane. As this training is going on, a foe, by the alias Valentine is planning to kill off most of the population by triggering the aggression response in the brain whilst turning off inhibition. Why? To solve the global climate crisis.

Overall,  this film is both hilarious, bad-ass, and heart-warming. With a rating of "R", it is most suited for adults who can handle the mature themes and language. I give this film a 9/10 for the story development and laugh factor. The only reason it does not receive a perfect score is purely due to the excessive language.
